We are a responsible company with a strong focus on mapping our emissions, promoting social justice, and maintaining an ethical and accountable leadership approach. That is why we have prioritised ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) as a key part of our agenda. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and ensuring transparency and integrity in our business practices. Through concrete initiatives and continuous improvements, we strive to take responsibility – not only for our own company but also for the world we are part of.

Environmental

RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTS
As one of Denmark’s leading suppliers of sealing solutions, we have a responsibility to ensure that our business contributes to a more sustainable world.

We see it as a social responsibility that our seals are produced using the best materials and with the correct specifications, thereby minimizing the risk of leaks, which can have significant consequences for the climate, environment, and people.

We focus on ensuring that our insulation solutions are produced and installed correctly to provide our customers with the optimal opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions.

CARBON FOOTPRINT
We have mapped all our emissions in Scope 1, 2, and 3 in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol for the fourth consecutive year, which is a significant achievement for a company of our size.

It is important for us to map all our emissions because we want to be a transparent and responsible company with a strong focus on sustainability. We clearly understand the crucial role of calculating emissions in promoting environmental responsibility and advancing sustainable practices.

For us, emission calculations have proven to be a crucial benchmark for tackling climate change and reducing our carbon footprint. By mapping the greenhouse gas emissions from our activities, we gain invaluable insight into our contribution to the global climate challenge. This knowledge enables us to identify precise areas for emission reduction, optimize energy consumption, and promote a culture of sustainability.

REDUCTION TARGETS
To strengthen our climate efforts, we have set a clear target for our own operations. We aim to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030, using 2022 as our baseline.

We have already taken several important steps in this direction. We have transitioned to district heating and will fully phase out natural gas in 2025. We use 100% wind power for our electricity consumption and have installed solar panels on our new buildings to increase our own production of renewable energy. In addition, we continuously work on improving the energy efficiency of our processes and equipment.

For Scope 3, we are working systematically to strengthen data quality and create greater transparency across our value chain. This includes improved collection of supplier data, closer dialogue on materials and production, and increased focus on transport, packaging, and waste handling. This knowledge enables us to identify new reduction opportunities and develop our solutions in a more sustainable direction.

RESPONSIBLE USE OF MATERIALS
We utilize as much of our raw materials as possible to minimize our waste as much as we can. We prioritize upgrading our machinery to new high-tech machines to achieve better energy and resource efficiency.

We focus on using packaging with FSC certifications to promote more responsible packaging consumption.

STEFFCA is affiliated with VANA and complies with the requirements for producer responsibility for packaging in Denmark.

WASTE
We have implemented waste management system in accordance with the Waste Executive Order. A renewed emphasis is on correctly sorting waste to increase our recycling rate.

100% WIND ENERGY
At STEFFCA, we have made a conscious decision to reduce our climate footprint by using 100% wind energy for our electricity consumption. Since 1 January 2025, all electricity for our production and office facilities has been covered by guaranteed wind energy through certificates of origin from our energy supplier.

We purchase wind power from production facilities at Odense Harbour in Denmark, corresponding to 495,000 kWh. Electricity generated by wind turbines emits no greenhouse gases such as CO2 during the electricity generation process and creates no particulate air pollution.

By choosing wind energy, we reduce our Scope 2 emissions and support the green transition.
This initiative is an important part of our ongoing efforts to reduce STEFFCA’s overall climate footprint.

ENERGY
At STEFFCA, all our buildings are heated exclusively with district heating. This ensures an energy-efficient and climate-friendly solution where heat is produced centrally and used optimally.

We already use electric trucks in our business, and we have installed ten electric vehicle chargers in our car park for use by staff and customers. We have converted our lights to LED lights and installed sensors to minimize electricity consumption.

We emphasize replacing our machines with new, high-tech ones for better energy and resource utilization.

TRANSPORT
We expect to gradually replace our eight company vehicles with electric cars. At present, we have five hybrid cars and one electric van.

Social

GOOD WORKING ENVIRONMENT
We aim to be an attractive workplace to retain and attract qualified employees. It is important to us that all our employees thrive, develop, and are supported in a working life with balance, well-being, and a healthy working environment.

JOB SECURITY AND WELL-BEING
We are focused on job security and staff well-being. We want our colleagues to feel safe at work, and we want to help each other to ensure that we have a safe and healthy work environment. We do not tolerate harassment and bullying.

STEFFCA encourages all employees to participate in a weekly walking group. In addition, all employees are offered daily fruits and vegetables, as well as a canteen scheme, to promote a healthy and varied diet for everyone.

All staff are enrolled in a health insurance scheme. This ensures that all our employees have the best outcomes should they need medical treatment. All staff members are also offered a flu vaccination as this illness can be very serious for some.

MENTAL WELLBEING IN EVERYDAY WORK
All employees at STEFFCA have participated in a shared HjerneRo programme focusing on mental wellbeing and stress prevention. The programme has provided practical and simple tools to manage racing thoughts, create greater calm, strengthen focus and build healthy everyday work habits.
HjerneRo is part of our long-term commitment to a healthy working environment where wellbeing, balance and psychological wellbeing are prioritised across the entire organisation.

WE MAKE ROOM FOR PEOPLE
We strive to be an inclusive workplace by employing people who may otherwise have difficulty finding a job. Because we see it as our social responsibility to help the individual develop and move forward, we have assigned a mentor to support these colleagues. We also offer protected employment and flexible working to all our employees if they need to reduce their hours due to illness or reduced capacity. We want to hold on to our employees for as long as possible.

WE PREPARE NEW EMPLOYEES FOR A STRONG START
We focus on adequately preparing new employees for our workplace. We have a staff handbook, and we are dedicated to furthering our colleagues’ careers through relevant education and training.

THE STEFFCA TEAM
We recognise the importance of our employees feeling part of the community on the STEFFCA team. Therefore, we regularly organise joint events to strengthen our employees’ social relationships.

DONATIONS/SPONSORSHIPS
It is important for us to support initiatives that contribute to greater social responsibility.

STEFFCA supports the local community through various means, including Nyborg Voldspil and SUS Nyborg. We are also sponsors of the Odense Handball women’s league team.

We donated to Ukrainians fleeing the war through the Danish Red Cross.

We have donated to Danmarks Indsamlingen to help give the world’s children a better future.

Very few go through life without being affected by cancer, either as a patient or a relative. 1 out of 3 will get cancer before the age of 75. That’s a lot of people, and that’s why we have chosen to donate to the Knæk Cancer campaign.

SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT
We will actively work with our suppliers to ensure responsible production and that they adhere to ethical standards.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 13: CLIMATE ACTION
This goal focuses on swift action to combat climate change and its consequences by limiting the increase of the global average temperature to 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels and strengthening resilience and climate adaptation in vulnerable regions.
