Plastic gaskets are available in many different qualities. PE (polyethylene) is available in two qualities: HD or LD. PE is a relatively soft material with good friction properties, good chemical resistance, and good electrical properties. PE is approved for use in food production.
PTFE (polytetraflourethylene (teflon). A relatively soft material. Extremely chemical resistant. Excellent electrical properties.
Very high operating temperature, up to approx. 260°C. Supplied as virgin or expanded with glass and graphite filling. Approved for food. Used for gaskets without high-temperature requirements.
